2026 BMW 5 Series vs 2025 BMW 5 Series
Serving Warwick, RI
The midsize 5 Series sedan has long been a preferred option for luxury-driven drivers in the Warwick area and beyond. Both the 2025 and 2026 versions of the 5 Series are part of the model’s eighth generation. While they are similar in most areas, there are a few updates to the 2026 5 Series that you should know about before purchasing your next BMW.
Performance
Two gas powertrains and a plug-in hybrid system are available in both 2025 and 2026. The 550e plug-in hybrid features a more powerful charger in 2026. Specifically, the 2025 charging rate of 7.5 kW is elevated to 11 kW in 2026. This system offers a 33-mile all-electric range and produces 483 horsepower. The two 530i trim levels are equipped with a 255-horsepower, four-cylinder, turbo 2.0-liter gas engine. The 540i has a 375-horsepower, six-cylinder, turbo 3.0-liter engine.
Appearance
The enviable style of the regal 5 Series is unchanged between the 2025 and 2026 versions. However, Frozen Portimao Blue Metallic is added to the list of paint colors in the latest model year. This sedan seemingly glides across the road with a low, arched profile and strong hood definition. Smooth contouring on the sides creates a clean, polished look. The kidney-style grille that reaches across the rounded nose has a unique, tapered look on the sides. The headlights add additional distinction with dual LED ribbons standing upright. Features offered on the exterior of the 5 Series are 19-inch wheels and an illuminated grille.
Features
The 2026 5 Series introduces a few additional features on the interior. The leather upholstery is now offered in two additional colors, and these are dark violet and taupe. A flat tire repair kit is now standard for all trim levels. Some of the many features available in both 2025 and 2026 versions are a 14.9-inch infotainment system screen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a premium Harman Kardon audio system, a wireless charging pad, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, connected services with navigation assistance, remote engine start, lane keeping, a head-up display and others.
